The old air conditioner worked quite well when the inner vent system wasn’t attached, but there were a few signs that it wasn’t supported properly like popped rivets and the roof looked like it might have collapsed a little.
So we removed the air conditioner and gave it away. There were some popped rivets on the roof and the installation looked very weird. The hole where the air conditioner looked like it was factory made, but the installers didn’t seem to have added any real support and they didn’t use the wiring in the roof that was supposed to be used for that purpose.
The new air conditioner should be around 40lbs lighter than the old, and I spent some time re-enforcing he roof. Now we can do chin ups on the roof support, but I’m a little worried that it is too strong because trailer structure often doesn’t make sense and maybe it was important that this section flexed as it moved down the road.
We’ll see, I guess.
